  • California tomato harvest begins in early June.

  • Coachella is starting to pick mixed vegetables; Melon transition to the desert starts May 19.

  • Salinas is fully transitioned with steady lettuce production; insect pressure from spring rains is being monitored.

 

PRODUCT AVAILABILITY

 

Avocados:
Markets are elevated, driven by post-Cinco de Mayo demand and increased sourcing from Peru and Colombia, reducing Mexico's market share.

Limited or Escalated Items:

  • Green beans, shishito, habanero, caribe peppers, and jumbo Brussels sprouts are light in supply.

  • Escalated: Arugula, asparagus, blueberries, limes, brussels sprouts, cilantro, napa cabbage, parsley, fennel, and spring mix.

Vegetable Highlights:

  • Lettuce: Good quality, minor issues during transition.

  • Bell peppers: Large green bells limited; colored bells stable.

  • Cucumbers and zucchini: Good quality but limited volumes in some regions.

  • Melons: Cantaloupe tight, honeydew quality strong, watermelon prices up due to strong demand

    • Avocado supply shift is reducing Mexico’s dominance; Peru and Colombia volume increasing.

    • Citrus: Navels ending, Valencia transition starts June; small fruit is limited.

    • Berries: Shortages in blueberries and raspberries; strawberries ramping up in Salinas.

Fruit Highlights:
